Pursuant to Article 47 of the National Social Security & Insurance Trust Act, 2001 an actuarial evaluation of the Sierra Leone pension scheme is by law required every 3 years during the first ten years of the pension scheme and once every five years thereafter. The scheme was initially implemented in 2002 with the first actuarial valuation performed in 2004. The second statutory valuation should therefore be conducted by 2007/2008 and an actuarial report issued soon thereafter.
